And on the second day, there was (sheet) Rock and Steel.

And it was gooood.

Finally, my friends at Menard’s got their heads out of their asses and actually delivered 20 gauge metal studs, instead of 25 gauge.  You give them 4 chances to get a delivery (over 6 days) and by gum, they’ll get it right every time.

First things first, I laid down a layer of 3/4″ Durock on top of the composite decking, and screwed that thing down to within an inch of it’s life.


Once that was on, I HAD to see how it looked with 1 metal track attached.  These tracks are what the studs will attach to, forming the bones of this beast.  With any luck, and a little dry skies, I might have most of it studded up before I go back to work on Tuesday.



And the Grill arrived today, a nice Napoleon 3 burner with infrared.  And those nice guys at sent along a free Napoleon tabletop propane patio heater.  It’s already assembled and I just might fire it up tonight, since it’s supposed to be a low of 40 again.
